Conservation as Art

July 11 - August 15 Artists House Too in Bryson City, NC
Conservation /Reclamation art show with new works by collage artist Laura Adams titled "Bee Balm to Bears" - the Conservation of a High Mountain Farm.

Laura and David Adams placed their 98 acre tract of land near Big Ridge into a conservation easement with LTLT this past December. The Jackson County property is within close proximity to four State-designated Significant Natural Heritage Areas that contain numerous rare species and exemplary or unique natural communities, including Robinson Creek Gorge and Panthertown Valley. “We wanted to try and preserve what we could of a disappearing mountain landscape,” says Laura Adams, “there aren’t many places like this left. This area of Jackson County is so remote and beautiful. It deserves protection.” The collage works Laura Adams has prepared for this show are intended to represent the natural beauty of conservation in action.

The gallery is located at 32 Everett St. in Bryson City, NC. For a preview of the show with the artist’s statement and additional pictures of Slatten Creek please visit http://www.laurawadams.com/. For the complete story go to http://www.ltlt.org/pr20080625.html
